Making My Recipe List and Checking it Twice
Posted on December 22, 2011 by Paula W.
Yes, the holidays are here and they’re filled with family and giving and lights and other things, but you know what they’re also filled with? Time and excuses to cook. I’m cruising all of my favorite cooking sites and (of course) checking in with the Fine Cooking Menu Maker app from the Intel AppUp® center and planning a lot of cooking and baking. The keyword here is planning. In previous years, I’ve planned to cook many things and have not managed to make it through my list. Some holidays I see my list and the list itself forces me to sit in a chair and knit and then order pizza.
What.
This year I have perhaps my grandest list yet (thank you Pinterest). In addition to the many citrus-based foods (citrus is the only way to get through a Pacific Northwest winter. Also Vitamin D pills. And chocolate cupcakes), my list includes the Pioneer Woman’s Sticky Pecan Mini-Buns, which I will make in regular muffin tins because (wow!) that will take a long time in mini muffin tins.
I also have the Spiced Yogurt Waffles with Toasted Pecan Maple Syrup from Fine Cooking. And Fine Cooking’s Nutella Fudge Brownies.
Hm.
I guess I need some non-sugar-related food on the list too. I suppose ordering in pizza in my sugar haze is out of the question.
How about the Roasted Prime Rib with Sautéed Mushrooms and Mom’s Creamy Horseradish Sauce from Food 52?
And an apple pie to wash it all back. Yum!
What’s your favorite recipe to cook this time of year? Or your seven favorites to add to a list and possibly never cook.
