Free Education App PBS Kids: Summer Fun for a Bit of Vacation Quiet Time
You know when you think California summer, you think of the beach, palm trees and surfers? Well, yes. There are areas of California that are perfect for that, however when you’re inland summer’s a bit of a different thing. That different thing is a desert. And it gets hot. My family and I try to beat the heat by heading to Lake Tahoe, but there are times, particularly mid-day, when the AC is calling our names.
When we’re hiding out and waiting for the evening to bring the cooler breezes, we have a little fun with the free educational app, PBS Kids. The app has a lot of different games and videos from our favorite characters including The Cat in the Hat, Super Why! and Curious George. My one-year old could listen to the same songs and voices all day. My wife and I, however, cannot. So we break it up and bounce from Elmo to Caillou to Dinosaur Train.
My son loves it because the shows he loves are always on, and better, they’re interactive. He can play with The Cat in the Hat, sing along (we call it singing anyway) and we can get in some learning too.
So, if your summer is getting a bit too hot and you need a break in the shade, check out PBS Kids. If you’ve already downloaded the app, let me know what your favorite activities are. It’s going to be a long summer and we need all the tips we can get!
