Free App BlueBirds Plus Eases My Yankee Blues
It’s like the Yankees don’t know that I’m gone. Or they don’t really care. Or something. What I’m saying is they keep playing games despite the fact that I’m in a whole different country and the local papers don’t really care to report on what the Yankees are doing or how they’re doing against the Red Sox. So, there are moments when I find myself behind on Yankees news. Short moments. Regrettable moments. So regrettable that I needed to find a better way to keep up on all of my hometown news. And, I guess, my hometown friends, but they understand the Yankees come first. To save a bit of time and chagrin at not knowing the current score, I downloaded the free app BlueBirds Plus.
I like BlueBirds Plus because it combines social media with productivity, bringing both my Twitter feed and RSS feeds into one seamless timeline. The awesome kicker to this app is the ability to sort all my feeds by 16 categories. I can have all my news updates in one place and my sports updates in another. Additionally, this desktop app allows the user to engage in all the regular twitter features like reply and retweet. As a designer I like that I can create my own theme — it’s really easy, anyone can do it.
Sweet social media/baseball bliss! And because it’s a desktop app, I can keep the app open while I work and discreetly check the score. What’s not so discreet is when I stand up and cheer.
