Angry Birds Invade Street Jam, Portland’s Premier Hoops Event
Cagers, gunners and chuckers from all over Portland gathered under the warm summer sun to shoot hoops and benefit the Special Olympics thanks to the Portland Trail Blazers and their event, Street Jam. Kids and adults brought their best trick shot and competed in games of three-on-three and five-on-five. So what does that have to do with apps? Well, everyone needs a break from the key, right?
The Intel AppUp® center was there to provide some shade and a bit of off-the-court competition. Kids and parents alike tried their hands at Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds, PacMan, and Ancient Frog. There was quite a bit of tough talk from parents who promised a wicked Angry Bird slingshot technique. But, as all parents know, kids are the real tech pros and the munchkins dropped buildings with bird projectiles like it was their job.
Our own Chryste S. was there with her kids who were participating in the event. Here’s what she had to say: “This is my kids’ favorite event of the summer. I’m thrilled the Intel AppUp team could be a part of it.”
The Intel AppUp team gave away bracelets, water bottles, and Angry Birds caps. A few lucky Street Jam attendees walked away with netbooks, Trail Blazers tickets and one fan won an autographed Terry Porter jersey.
It was an awesome summer weekend. Thanks to the Trail Blazers for putting on such a great event to benefit the Special Olympics.
