Calculate the density of a solid object having irregular sha
Using this experiment, you can calculate the density of a solid object having an irregular shape. Determine the mass as before but you will find you cannot easily determine the volume with a rule. Instead, fill a graduated cylinder with water and note the level. Add the object, like a thumbtack, into the cylinder. Observe the new level of water and then subtract the original amount to determine how much water was displaced. Then simply take the mass and divide it by the amount of water displaced and that is the density of the object. Calculator is given to do required calculations. Stepwise procedure to perform the experiment is given in Help portion of software.
